The Beaches We Return To

With more than 200 kilometers of coastline, Rhodes offers a remarkable variety of beaches, from lively bays and organized beach clubs to quiet coves and untouched stretches of coast. Rather than listing every beach on the island, we have gathered some of our personal favorites, places we return to throughout the season for swimming, relaxing, and discovering different sides of Rhodes.

Kallithea

The coastline around Kallithea is home to several beautiful swimming spots, characterized by rocky shores and exceptionally clear water.

For a more vibrant atmosphere, Oasis Beach offers music, drinks, and a lively setting by the sea. Just a short distance away, Nicholas Beach provides a quieter and more natural alternative, with crystal clear water and a more relaxed pace.

Both are excellent options for a day by the sea and are among the closest beaches to Rhodes Town.

Anthony Quinn Bay

One of the most iconic beaches on Rhodes and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful. Surrounded by rocky cliffs and turquoise water, Anthony Quinn Bay features a mix of sand, small stones, and crystal clear water.

We recommend visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the crowds begin to disappear. The beach bar Kounna is also a nice place for an aperitivo or dinner ( better also to reserve) while watching the changing colors of the bay before sunset.

Traganou Beach

Simple, spacious, and easy to enjoy. Traganou is characterized by clear water and smooth pebbles, making it one of our favorite beaches for a relaxed swim away from larger crowds.

Its understated character is exactly what makes it special.

Tsambika Beach

A long stretch of golden sand backed by hills and open views of the sea. Tsambika is one of the island's most popular sandy beaches and remains a great choice for a full day by the water.

The shallow shoreline and wide beach make it particularly comfortable for spending several hours swimming and relaxing.

Agathi Beach

Known for its golden sand and calm waters, Agathi offers a more sheltered setting than many beaches on the northern coast.

If you are exploring the eastern side of the island, it is well worth a visit.

Stegna & Hidden Beaches

Stegna is one of our favorite starting points for exploring the coastline.

From the beach, small private boats can be rented without a license, allowing access to hidden coves that cannot be reached by road. Among our favorites are Agia Triada Beach and Red Sand Beach, both offering a quieter and more secluded experience of Rhodes.

The beaches in this area are generally characterized by a mix of sand and small stones.

Grand Blue Beach

A relaxed beach club setting with comfortable sunbeds, clear water, and a more laid back atmosphere than many of the island's larger beach venues. Grand Blue is a place to spend the day slowly, moving between the sea, a good lunch, and long hours under the sun.

Lindos Beach

No visit to Rhodes would be complete without spending time in Lindos. While the village itself is one of the island's highlights, Lindos Beach offers a beautiful sandy setting for swimming beneath the whitewashed houses and the Acropolis above.

Very popular during the summer months, but always worth visiting.

Pefkos

Located south of Lindos, Pefkos offers a relaxed atmosphere and beautiful sandy beaches with clear water and easy access.

A good stop when exploring the southern part of the island.

Agios Georgios Beach

One of the wildest beaches on Rhodes and one of our personal favorites.

There are no facilities at Agios Georgios, which is precisely what makes it special. The landscape feels untouched, the sea remains beautifully clear, and the long sandy beach offers a sense of remoteness that is increasingly rare on the island.

Prasonisi

At the southernmost point of Rhodes, Prasonisi marks the meeting point of the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas.

Known for its long sandy beach and world class windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions, it is worth visiting even if you have no intention of entering the water. The landscape itself is unique and unlike anywhere else on the island.

The best beach is often the one that matches the day. Some days call for a lively beach bar, others for an empty cove and a quiet swim. Rhodes offers both, often within the same coastline.
