Around Monocabin

Ialyssos is one of the oldest areas of Rhodes and the location of Monocabin Retreat. Located on the island's northern coast, it combines everyday island life with easy access to the sea, restaurants, cafés, and essential services, all within walking distance.

Just a five minute walk from Monocabin lies Ialyssos Beach, a long stretch of coastline overlooking the Aegean Sea, with views towards the Turkish mainland. Characterized by smooth pebbles and exceptionally clear water, it is the perfect place for a morning swim, a relaxed afternoon by the sea, or simply watching the sunset.

During the summer months, the northern coast can be windy, creating ideal conditions for windsurfing and other water sports. It is part of the character of this side of the island and one of the reasons which is very enjoyable during hot summer days to have a breeze.

Along the beachfront, Costa Mare and Bikini offer a relaxed setting for breakfast, lunch, aperitivo, or dinner by the sea. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available throughout the beach for those wishing to spend the day by the water.

For everyday essentials, Sklavenitis supermarket is located just a few minutes from Monocabin. Walking towards the center of Ialyssos, you will also find pharmacies, bakeries, cafés, and a variety of local shops.

For a quick breakfast, coffee, sweet treat, or freshly prepared sandwich, we recommend Cake Box. For a traditional simple Greek meal, Aspri Avli Taverna remains one of our favorite tavernas in the area.

Ialyssos offers a different side of Rhodes. Less about landmarks and more about daily life, sea breezes, local businesses, and the simple pleasure of having everything close at hand.
