Favorite Bites
Rhodes offers countless places to eat.
To be honest, it is difficult to eat really badly on Rhodes. At the very least, there is always a Greek salad and tzatziki on the menu, which is rarely a bad place to start.
The places below are not intended to be a complete restaurant guide. They are simply the addresses we return to most often. Some took years to discover, hidden behind local recommendations, quiet village roads, or unassuming facades. There are many good restaurants on the island, but these are the ones we believe are truly exceptional.
Some are close to Monocabin, others require a short drive, but all are worth the journey.
One of our favorite spots near Monocabin for grilled meats and traditional Greek cooking. Simple, authentic, and consistently good.
Before dinner, we often recommend stopping for a drink at Eli Beach Bar. With music, a lively atmosphere, and an Ibiza style beach club feel, it is one of our favorite spots to enjoy a drink by the sea before heading into the Old Town for dinner.
A more contemporary addition to Rhodes Town and one of our preferred addresses within the Old Town. Ideal for those looking for a beautiful atmosphere beneath a century old tree, thoughtful cocktails, and a modern approach to dining.
A traditional taverna serving honest Greek food in a relaxed atmosphere. One of those places that reminds you why simplicity often works best.
For seafood lovers, Arhontariki remains one of our favorite addresses on the island. Located by the port alongside several long established fish tavernas, this area has been serving freshly caught fish for generations. The setting reflects the character of Rhodes and its enduring connection to the sea.
Located in Stegna, Kozas is worth the stop if you are exploring the beaches of the southern coast before heading back towards Rhodes. With its relaxed beachside atmosphere and excellent fish and seafood, it is one of our favorite spots for a long lunch by the water.

Some of the most memorable meals on Rhodes are found away from the coast.
These are two of our favorite tavernas for traditional Greek food on the island. Located in the mountains and inland villages, they offer a glimpse into a different side of Rhodes, where meals are slower, portions are generous, and Greek hospitality remains at the center of the experience.
Whether you are exploring the forests and villages of central Rhodes or making the journey specifically for lunch, both are well worth the detour.
